Found!

I've been wandering around ever since I got back to Geneva cussing under my breath and looking for yet another misplaced book. I knew I had - um - liberated it from my parents' house a year or so ago. I haven't taught out of it since then, so there was no reason for it to have migrated to school - though I searched there. My home office is partially double-shelved - so I pulled all those apart.

Now I have a good visual memory (goes with the art history territory), so I knew that it is a buff book with gothic lettering on the spine. Could I spot it? NO!

Well I had to move a bunch of books today for some painters (yay - repaired a living-room ceiling flaw that happened when there was a leak from above 18 months ago!). One thing led to another, and I pulled all the bathroom books and started reshelving them - and there it was! On the bottom of a pile but with its spine toward the wall! Just goes to show that I'm neat, but not organized!

I was spared the ignominy of checking a copy out of the library this time.

Now I get to read some fabliaux - and is there anything more fun?

How about the ignominy of being relegated to the bathroom for a year?

Ummm - given the scatological content of most fabliaux that's not really so inappropriate. Potty humor of the highest caliber! --MCT
