Tell me how this is a good idea, this whole flag@whitehouse.gov bit
flag@whitehouse.gov
Why are people supposed to report their neighbors to the White House? What kind of government IS this?
Under the heading "Facts Are Stubborn Things" the White House website publishes this plea for citizen informants:
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can't keep track of all of them here at the White House, we're asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
You know, they can't do their own research, so you should report anything you see or read. Because loose lips sink ships. You know, things you hear in casual conversations.
Just think, colleagues of mine posted lists by their office doors of ways George Bush was a fascist. SHEESH. What would they have said if the whitehouse.gov website had ever asked anyone to inform on neighbors?
This is the creepiest executive initiative I've read about since - oh - the Wilson administration Red Scare. And they were Progessive Democrats, too.
