Using Google Earth for archaeology

This is neat - looking for crop circles with Google Earth. I knew that people were doing this, but follow the link to see pictures!

My friend-the-anthropologist was surprised when I suggested using satellite imagery to aid in the identification of a effigy mound we were searching for. We were able to spot the mound and later found it in the wooded area we'd previously searched.

It's a very useful tool

.....You found an effigy mound! That´s as good as finding a coin hoard with a metal detector!! Coolness!! If you sent me a google link would I be able to see it, or do you need some local knowledge? --MCT
