David Bowie makes even MORE money off my generation than he has already.
Lincoln MKZ. Talk about target marketing. Here's a picture of the car.
Here's the video with music. Tell me, people over 35, that this doesn't say "buy me! buy me!"
Maybe there's SOME hope for the American car industry after all.
Here's the whole cover version.

And yet, not all that tempted. If I want to get something with lousy mileage, I'll go for the mini or a bmw ...

Marketing and advertising people are so slick, aren't they? This version of the song is OK, but falls short of Bowie. Have you seen the commercial that shovels guilt on the parent? The voice over (Morgan Freeman) asks the question, "When's the last time you took your daughter to the aquarium....on a Tuesday?" All the while a Moody Blues song is playing and there are psychedelic butterflies floating around. HA.
My young adult children are always amazed when I start singing along to a cover song. MOM! You know all the lyrics! Well, yeah. The song is only 35 years old.

Just to clarify, the song "Major Tom (Coming Home)" is by Peter Schilling, not Bowie. But Cat Power did cover "Space Oddity" for a different Lincoln ad. To-may-toe, To-mah-toe...
