Why I've ordered a new 13" MacBook Pro
I have a cracked LCD, and that L really does stand for liquid. The oozing liquid is bad and getting worse pretty rapidly. I waited until Apple announced the new MacBook Pro lineup, paid off the remainder of the payroll deduction loan for the broken one, and have ordered a new one.
Oh, well.

Oh, now I'm green with envy. I have the big "Senior Citizen Apple Spaceship" for in-home use but I'm want the MacBook for other applications, like field trips and road trips.
Good for you. Enjoy the new machine.

P.S. How did the screen get cracked? If it's something boring you need to make up a really good story involving ghosts or the Knights Templar, or both!

ouch - isn't that one "relatively" new? and no warranty claim under apple care - there must be a good story here :-)
.....19 months - got it in early December 2007, just before the last Rome program. So the loan only had 5 more months to run. I didn't replace the last one so quickly because of Apple's model cycle. I would've passed this one down and gotten a new one in December probably anyway. Eh.
.....Yeah, someone sat on it in Freiburg. I didn't notice any damage until the next day when the liquid started leaking. It's gotten a lot worse recently - but Apple also recently announced the new line of 13 inchers. So, stars align.
