Academic nostalgia
In the face of world-wide contraction in academic publishing, Duke is going to bring out a period piece - a 17 year old dissertation (wikipedia says she received her Ph.D. in 1992).
Of course, since it's by Obama's sainted mother it will probably sell.

It it was such a remarkable work, as stated in the press release, it would have been published long ago.

This is great - a surefire way to get my dissertation published! All I need to do is procreate, ensure that one of my offspring secure "the highest office in the land," and publishers will be banging down my door. Posthumously, I presume.
Sarcasm aside, I'm curious to see whether the work has merit.
